how Does the Use of Props, costumes and make-up enhance interest/ attraction towards an audience within portrait photography?
I am highly interested in portrait photography in general, I like how detail and personality can be captured within a persons positioning, or facial expression. Sometimes this can be altered and put forward more through the use of props and makeup. I enjoy looking at the different things we can do with portrait photography to either create a photo that makes a statement, or something that's just different and creative; something that has been explored by the photographers interests and what they like.
For this reason I want to explore these elements within portrait photography: What makes an audience stop and stare at an image? What is more interesting?

Martin Schoeller.
_After using his work as inspiration in my AS coursework, I really find it amazing how he is able to bring out such details within the face, and also create interest from the image without using any props or crazy makeup to the faces. It would be very hard to work in his style, he creates detail and interest practically our of nothing.

CONCLUSION.
I asked a group of people, which selection of images attracted them and which they preferred, and the majority of people said that the Martin Schoeller work was the most impressive due to the lighting and how i was able to capture the models features and detail though it looks so simple. While others preferred the Guy Denning representation as they felt the lighting and the paint mixes on the models face led them to be fascinated and wonder about them.
Few people liked the Carsten Witte representation, mainly because itr did not appeal to them or have anything interesting to show, it was just 'a random mess on a model'.
I personally preferred the simplicity that came through my Martin Schoeller work, however i like how my Guy Denning work was lit and how fascinating the model looks with the paint on the face. If i can mix these themes together in the next units then I will be very happy with my work.
